SpamCleanser

SpamCleanser is a subscription service that will enable you to automatically eliminate up to 95% of the spam messages that your organization receives. There are no complicated settings to adjust and no rules to add or edit. By simply paying a modest monthly subscription, SpamCleanser for Softalk Mail Server will all but eradicate the problem of spam, saving your organization both time and money.

How does it work? SpamCleanser is an intrinsic part of Softalk Mail Server which can be turned on by subscribing to the SpamCleanser service. It uses an advanced score based genetic algorithm to examine many different traits of a message and determine whether the message is a genuine message or whether it is unsolicited. When you subscribe to the SpamCleanser service, Softalk Mail Server will continually check for updated spam definitions from our website and will download these to your computer when they are updated. It is these files that determine how effectively Softalk Mail Server can block spam messages. Because senders of spam mail are becoming more savvy with regard to penetrating antispam filters, we are continually mutating the SpamCleanser algorithm to provide you with the most effective defence against spammers.

How much is spam currently costing my organization? Estimates of how much a spam message costs an organization vary from $0.10 to $10 per message, depending on who you ask. But let us take a conservative approach and assume that each user gets on average 10 spam messages per day. If it takes on average 30 seconds to open a message, identify it as spam and then delete the message, then the total time wasted is 300 seconds per user per day. If you assume that the average salary is $40000 per year then spam is costing your organization $2.24 per user per day. So if you have 20 e-mail users in your organization, spam is costing you over $1000 per month.

How is this different from Softalk Mail Server's Spam Filtering? Softalk Mail Server's Spam Filtering lets you manually define black lists and white lists and spam content, which will help you catch a certain percentage of spam. SpamCleanser, however, provides you with a constantly updated algorithm that analyses every aspect of a message in order to determine whether or not it is spam. This is a very successful approach which can catch up to 95% of spam.

What happens as soon as I've registered? As soon as you register with the service, Softalk Mail Server will start quarantining all messages that it determines to be unsolicited free for the next 30 days. After the 30 days trial, you can continue to protect your users from spam by subscribing to the service. The pricing is charged on a monthly basis, according to the number of users that you have according to the following table:

No. of usersPrice (per month)*
1-5$9.17
6-10$18.33
11-25$27.08
26-50$36.25
51-500$54.17
500+$60

What happens to the spam messages? It's up to you. You can tell Softalk Mail Server to quarantine them, delete them or even mark them in order that more complicated actions may be performed by the content filter or by the rules in your mail client.

Why not find out for yourself? Try the SpamCleanser service free for 30 days. If you are not 100% satisfied during this time, you pay nothing. To register for your free 30-day SpamCleanser trial, simply select Register SpamCleanser from the Register menu in the Softalk Mail Server administrator.
