Procedure for BlackBerry Desktop Synchronization

The desktop synchronization software for some mobile devices, such as the BlackBerry, require that the Outlook store type is either a Personal Folders Store (.pst) or a Microsoft Exchange Store. The following steps explain how to configure Outlook to synchronize with a BlackBerry when using a Softalk Share Server store:

1. In Outlook, select File | Offline Settings... from the menu and, in the dialog that appears, select the folders that you wish to synchronize on the BlackBerry, e.g. Calendar, Contacts and Tasks.

2. Select File | Synchronize in Outlook. Wait while the offline store is created.

3. Download the BlackberrySyncSetup zip file. Extract it to a folder and run BlackberrySyncSetup.exe. Press the Create Blackberry Profile button. A new profile will be created in Outlook called BlackBerry, containing the Softalk Share Server offline PST store.

4. Ensure that you choose the "BlackBerry" profile from the Outlook User Profile drop down when configuring the options in the Intellisync BlackBerry synchronization software.

5. Each time, prior to connecting the device in order to synchronize it, you must select File | Synchronize from the Outlook menu.
