Apart from not being able to share Outlook data with colleagues, one of the disadvantages of your users storing their Outlook data
in a Personal Folders store (PST) is the fact that Outlook data is stored on several computers located throughout the organization. This is highly undesirable when it comes to backing up data.
With Softalk Share Server, the data is held centrally in a database, which makes it very easy to backup everyone's Outlook data. In addition to using the backup facility of the
database, Softalk Share Server provides a separate backup and restore mechanism, which means that, should a user accidentally delete some important data, it is possible to restore
the data down to the folder level.
For example, if a user accidentally deletes some important emails, it is very easy to restore
these emails by restoring from a known backup point. An administrator can choose to restore a certain user's Inbox, restoring only those emails that have been deleted since the selected backup point.
Softalk Share Server lets you specify a schedule for backups. By default, it performs a full backup once a week and incremental backups on a daily basis. This is completely configurable by the administrator.
